The Polynesian Cultural Center is Hawaii’s #1 visitor attraction, adorned
with 6 island villages and a 42 acre lagoon along Oahu’s North Shore.
PCC offers unforgettable experiences great for the whole family and allows
visitors to partake in unique island cultures of Hawaii, Fiji, Aotearoa (New
Zealand), Samoa, Tahiti and Tonga.
THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Antiquated Ad Creative and an Inexistent Retargeting Funnel
It is fair to say that the Polynesian Cultural Center wasn’t the biggest believer in Facebook’s ability to drive
lower funnel performance outcomes such as ticket sales.
Prior to onboarding with Optimal, the PCC primarily ran Facebook campaigns outfitted with static, banner-style images as ad creative in an attempt to garner Brand Awareness and Website Traffic. With low click-through
rates and stagnant sales, it was time to rethink PCC’s Facebook strategy.
THE STRATEGY
Optimal’s first priority was to develop captivating video
content highlighting the abundance of astonishing
attractions available at the PCC. We then focused on
composing lookalike audiences for prospecting using
PCC’s highest Lifetime-Value customers as a seed
audience. Once we began generating incremental
consideration for PCC’s offerings, we then turned on our
retargeting campaigns to encourage thrill-seekers – who
have shown interest in travel packages on PCC’s website
– to finalize their purchases.

Producing Record-Breaking Sales and Scaling Budgets
With a refined campaign strategy and refreshed creative
assets, the Polynesian Cultural Center was able to
produce record-breaking online ticket sales via the
Facebook platform. Optimal turned PCC into believers of
Facebook ads, resulting in the tropical escape deciding to
increase their ad spend by 4x.
